Red Deer County councillor Christine Moore also seeking mayorship

Red Deer County’s councillor for Division 6, Christine Moore, will also be on the slate for mayor when residents vote in the municipal election this October.

As of June 27, she will be up against fellow councillors Brent Ramsay (Division 5) and Lonny Kennett (Division 2).

Noting her three terms of experience on county council, Moore says her campaign comes down to a proven track record, not just aspirations.

“I have a proven track record of transparency, and accountability with action. We’re living in a world where people look at politicians, and nothing means anything, but I’m proud of my record of standing up for people,” said Moore.

“I moved the forensic audit, I’ve been persistent with my questions about the broadband project which has gone over-budget, and I’ve got the courage.”

Moore says that includes voting against the last three budgets.

“Opponents say they’re going to bring in policies; I’m not going to make empty promises, but I will stand up for fiscal responsibility and not borrowing money to keep the lights on,” she says.

“I think I can take Red Deer County to the next level.”

Moore has sat on most council committees, is former chair of Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools, formerly a member of the RDP board of governors, and raised approximately $3 million through the former Sheraton Celebrity Dance-off, she notes.

Election day is October 20. More on the Red Deer County election landscape can be found here.
