14th year of Reading College set to begin June 30

Nearly 80 Grade 2 students will begin the 14th year of Reading College at Red Deer Polytechnic on Monday, June 30.

There will also be an open house on July 10 at 11 a.m. at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre for families, friends, and sponsors to attend to see what the students have been learning.

On Friday, July 25 at 11 a.m. Reading College will hold its graduation ceremony where 78 students will graduate from the month-long program.

The Reading College is a free summer program put on by the Foundation for Red Deer Public Schools that strengthens literacy skills of students.

Students are bussed to and from the program at Red Deer Polytechnic and provided breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Morning sessions focus on reading, writing, and word work and in the afternoon, the class reads stories, works on sight words, and does fun activities.
