Lacombe Police recover stolen vehicle following early morning theft

The Lacombe Police Service (LPS) is investigating a vehicle theft that occurred in the early morning hours of June 24, 2025, in the 5600 block of 49 Avenue.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., police say they received a report from a local resident who observed an unknown suspect stealing their neighbor’s tan Jeep CJ Sport, which features a brown canvas roof.

The witness, alerted by their dog, saw the stolen vehicle being followed by a white car, believed to be involved in the incident. Lacombe Police responded quickly, conducting patrols throughout the area. Approximately 30 minutes later, the stolen Jeep was located abandoned on the side of Highway 12, just west of the City of Lacombe.

LPS says the vehicle was found with a damaged ignition and break-in tools inside. The investigation remains ongoing.

Police are asking residents in the surrounding area to review any doorbell or surveillance camera footage from the early morning of June 24 to see if they may have captured the theft or suspect vehicles.
