Valedictorian reflects on lifelong journey at Gateway Christian School
For many students, graduation marks the end of a chapter. For Jett Unrau, Gateway Christian School’s 2025 Valedictorian, it’s the conclusion of a story that began in the same hallways, classrooms and even with the same teachers, 13 years ago.
“My experience at Gateway was really great because I got to see the same teachers all the way from Kindergarten to Grade 12,” said Jett. “Building those relationships and connections really made a big difference in my journey.”
Being a K-12 school, Gateway creates a strong sense of community and connection, with long-standing traditions like the Buddies Program, where older students pair up with younger grades for monthly fun and mentorship. Jett added he was especially grateful this year for the program as Grade 12 students were paired with the Kindergarten classes.
“There’s just a sense of comfort when you’re at school with the same people for so many years,” he said, reflecting on the friendships and staff connections that have lasted over a decade. “One of my good friends has been here since Kindergarten too, and his mom has been the school secretary for a long time. You get to know people really well.”
