Temporary road closures planned for Ponoka Stampede Parade June 27

The annual Ponoka Stampede Parade hosted by the Ponoka Stampede and Exhibition Association will roll through downtown Ponoka on Friday, June 27 starting at 10 a.m.

Town officials note there will be temporary road closures on all roadways along the parade route beginning at about 9 a.m. and ending at about 12 p.m., immediately after the parade wraps up.

The parade will begin at the Ponoka Arena Complex (4410 54 Street), heading:

• North on 55 Street (from 45 Avenue to 48 Avenue);

• East on 48 Avenue (from 55 Street to 51 Street);

• North on 51 Street (from 48 Avenue to 57 Avenue);

• East 57 Avenue (from 51 Street to 50 Street);

• South on 50 Street (from 57 Avenue to 46 Avenue);

• West on 46 Avenue (from 50 Street to 54 Street); and

• South on 54 Street (from 46 Avenue to 45 Avenue) as the parade returns to the Arena.

The town says motorists should avoid the parade route area during the temporary road closures and observe all barricades and signage.
