Alberta Crop Report: Crop emergence nearly complete in Central Region
Major crop emergence is at 97 per cent in Alberta’s Central Region, above the 5-year average of 91 per cent and ahead of the 10-year average of 90 per cent.
That according to the latest Crop Report from Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC) and the Government of Alberta.
The report indicates hot and dry conditions continued over the past week and major cereal crops have progressed to early tillering stages. Sub-surface moisture rating is 20 per cent poor, 46 per cent fair, 31 per cent good, 3 per cent excellent, and 0 per cent excessive. While tame hay conditions are reported as 8 per cent poor, 40 per cent fair, 44 per cent good, and 8 per cent excellent.
The previously reported rapid completion of seeding operations has been followed by a similarly rapid emergence of the 2025 crop. The emergence of major crops at the provincial level has reached 95 per cent, significantly ahead of the 5-year average of 84 per cent and the 10-year average of 86 per cent.
