Wetaskiwin RCMP arrest individual involved in fatal hit and run

Wetaskiwin RCMP have charged an individual in connection with a fatal hit and run on Highway 13 on May 1.

The suspect cannot be named until the charges are sworn in court but has been charged with failing to stop after accident resulting in death.

The suspect was released from custody and will next appear in court on Aug. 5 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.

This comes after police issued a media release on May 9 asking for public assistance in locating a vehicle of interest.

Police later received a tip identifying a potential suspect and vehicle and on May 29 they arrested a suspect and seized what they believe to be the vehicle involved in the crime.
