Alberta Health Services (AHS) has announced the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre has recruited two new physicians.

Dr. Eghosa Egharevba will not only work at the hospital but also at the Ebenezer Medical and Walk-in Clinic in Red Deer where she will provide comprehensive primary care, obstetrical care and hospitalist coverage.

Meanwhile, Dr. Nikhil Goyal will be working in the emergency department at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre where she will provide specialized care in emergency medicine.

“We are excited to welcome these exceptional physicians to our local care team,” said Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Primary and Preventative Health Services, and MLA for Red Deer-North. “This is great news for the city of Red Deer and the surrounding region, as both doctors will play a significant role in providing access to acute and emergency care for our residents.”

“Red Deer is the third largest city in the best province in Canada,” added Jason Stephan, MLA for Red Deer-South. “It is good to see medical professionals coming to Red Deer to serve families and individuals in our wonderful community.”

Dr. Egharevba received her medical education in Nigeria and worked in Drumheller and Camrose before coming to the community. Those looking for a family doctor can call 403-346-1533 to set up a meet-and-greet appointment.

“The hospitality I have received, along with the city’s many amenities and beautiful scenery are what interested me in coming to Red Deer,” said Dr. Egharevba.

Dr. Goyal went to school in India and the U.K. and worked in Singapore and the U.K. before taking the job in Red Deer. There are now 21 regular emergency medicine physicians at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

“I have always wanted to work in Canada, and Red Deer seemed like the perfect place to move with my family, especially because of its convenient proximity to both Edmonton and Calgary,” said Dr. Goyal.

AHS says they will continue to recruit physicians across the Central Zone.
