UPDATE: Parents of child found, RCMP ask for more kindness from critics

RCMP say the parents of the child noted below have been found.

“We are also asking that people be kind – you don’t know all circumstances surrounding an investigation. Comments on social media have not been kind,” RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney shared late Friday.

Red Deer RCMP are currently looking for the family of a young child that was located alone at Hunting Hills High School on Lockwood Avenue in Red Deer just before 9 am on May 30, 2025.

Despite canvasing the area, police say they have been unable to locate the child’s family and no reports of a missing child have been made at this time.

The child is described as;

• Approximately 5 years old;
• Medium complexion;
• 4 feet tall;
• Wearing matching orange, grey, white Hot Wheels shirt and shorts with Champion written across the front. White shoes and a blue and grey back pack.
