Red Deer County urges caution with dry, windy conditions expected

May 26, 2025 | 5:17 PM

Red Deer County Protective Services is asking residents to be extra cautious with dry weather expected in the near future.

The county says despite plenty of recent rainfall, the county may experience less to no rain. This means ignition and fire growth could be favourable with warm temperatures and high winds expected this week.

Protective Services says residents should make sure burn sites and open fires are extinguished before leaving them. There is no fire ban in effect but permit holders should closely monitor the weather.

This past weekend, Red Deer County Fire attended three grass fires , which were all caused by human error. One of the fires threatened residences in a subdivision and took three hours to put out.
