Students at Lindsay Thurber High School safe after hold and secure incident Wednesday

A hold and secure at Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School Wednesday morning was resolved following an incident near the school.

In a letter to families, Principal Chris Good said at approximately 9:15 a.m. they initiated a hold and secure as a precautionary measure after a domestic dispute in the school parking lot, which did not involve any staff or students.

RCMP were called and responded to the incident and the hold and secure was lifted at 9:50 a.m. once it was safe to do so.

Students and staff were safe while it was resolved and classes continued as normal.

“All actions taken were out of an abundance of caution. We are grateful for the quick response of the Red Deer RCMP and the cooperation of our school community,” Good said in the letter. “The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.”
