Red Deer County removes fire restriction

Red Deer County announced as of 10 a.m. today, the fire restriction implemented at the end of April, has now been lifted.

Permits are available again on the county’s website and residents must set up an account to obtain a burn permit.

The county says a fire permit is required for all open fires throughout the year, except for safe residential fire pits within the community.

Conditions have improved for burning but the county is reminding permit holders to monitor the weather and to check Red Deer County’s website or Albertafirebans.ca for any changes.

They’ll continue to watch weather patterns and if dry conditions return, another fire restriction may be put in place.
