ENDED: Rainfall warning in effect for Red Deer and area

May 12, 2025 | 8:13 AM

A rainfall warning is in effect for the City of Red Deer and Red Deer County.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), heavy rain is expected today, with total amounts of 50 to 70 mm.

ECCC expects the rain to intensify this morning and continue throughout the night before tapering off Tuesday morning. Wet snow may occur in higher elevations in the foothills, with up to 10 cm of accumulation possible.

Heavy rain can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads, and localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Residents should also look out for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
