Ponoka encourages residents to download app for Emergency Preparedness Week

May 7, 2025 | 4:30 PM

For Emergency Preparedness Week, May 4-10, the town of Ponoka is encouraging all residents to download its municipal app.

The town says having the app will help residents stay informed during large-scale local emergencies.

Residents should watch their mailboxes this week for a brochure that shows you how to ‘Download the App’ to get real-time alerts about:

• Large-scale local emergencies;

• Utility service disruptions; and

• Other important Town news.

Visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and download the Voyent Alert app onto your smartphone. The town of Ponoka is using the Voyent Alert app to send out these alerts. Voyent Alert is developed by an Alberta-based company, ICEsoft Technologies.

If you don’t have a smartphone, you can still receive alerts by email, text or recorded voice call. To register, please visit Ponoka.ca/p/alerts or call 403-783-4431.

For more information about the Town App, please visit the Town of Ponoka website at Ponoka.ca/p/alerts.
