Lacombe County 2025 property assessments and tax notices mailed out

May 7, 2025 | 3:52 PM

Lacombe County has announced the municipal property assessments and tax notices have been mailed out to rate payers in the community.

They can expect to see their 2025 tax notices in the next few weeks but if residents don’t receive their notice by June 1, they should contact Lacombe County’s Assessment Department at 403-782-6601.

“We encourage ratepayers to be proactive and ensure they have received their assessment and tax notice from Lacombe County,” said Michael Minchin, Director of Corporate Services at Lacombe County. “It is essential to review the notice promptly to verify the information and address any concerns in a timely manner.”

Lacombe County is also alerting the public that mail delivery could be disrupted with the potential for another Canada Post strike this month.

They’re optimistic the property assessment and tax notices will be delivered before any strike transpires but reminds residents that it’s their responsibility to make sure they receive the information.

Contact Lacombe County if you don’t receive your notice as property owners are required to pay their taxes by the Aug. 31 deadline. Property owners who miss the tax payment deadline will face a six per cent penalty on the outstanding taxes owed starting Sept. 1.

Residents should keep in mind that anyone wishing to appeal their assessment has 60 days from the notice of assessment date to do so. The complaint date is indicated on your notice of assessment.

Meanwhile, the county said it’s important to not procrastinate. They have a zero-tolerance policy for late payments.

“Like other online bill payments, there may be a processing delay for online tax payments. Therefore, individuals planning to pay their taxes through electronic banking should not leave it until the last minute,” Minchin added.

“To avoid all penalties, Lacombe County must receive tax payments by the last business day in August… We recognize the importance of timely tax payments for the smooth functioning of our community. It is crucial for residents to fulfill their obligations and submit their payments by the specified deadline. We are here to assist and answer any questions related to property assessments and tax notices.”

Tax payments to Lacombe County can be made through a variety of options including by mail, in person, deposited in the envelope mailbox located at the road entrance to the county office, through your financial institution, electronic funds transfer, by credit card, and by a tax installment payment plan.
