Centennial Street water discharge in Sylvan Lake May 7

Officials with the Town of Sylvan Lake say they are testing a water well at the South Reservoir starting May 7, 2025. The testing is expected to take approximately 12 hours.

Testing Well 13 to expand existing water sources

• Well 13 is licensed but not currently in use
• We are performing draw-down testing to see how much water it can produce while still protecting the aquifer
• This project is part of the Water Sustainability Plan, to ensure we have enough water for today and future development
• Although testing loses some water, the test is needed to see if we can use the well again

What to expect

• Water will be discharged along 50 Street
• The discharged water is untreated, contains no chemicals, and will be safely returned to the environment
• The town’s water supply will not be impacted during the test because we are not in water restrictions (Page 16 – 18)
• We ask that Lakers continue to follow water conservation during the test (Page 18)
