“I’m very humbled. The support that I received this evening is overwhelming. Thank you,” Bailey said to rdnewsNOW from his campaign headquarters around 10:30 on Monday.

“I’m very excited and I look forward to working with my colleagues to make a real difference in Red Deer. I want to make things more affordable.”

Bailey added that whether it’s housing or the carbon tax, a lot of things play into affordability, but said that it’s still too early to say much.

“We could be going into a coalition, and something similar to what happened with the Harper government in 2004,” he continued. “The second thing that comes to mind is we have to pass a budget; if the government does not agree, we could possibly be faced with another election.”

Bailey confirmed that on Monday, he tendered his resignation with the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, where he has served for some time as executive assistant to current health minister, Adriana LaGrange.
