Aspire celebrates 40 years of service

Apr 24, 2025 | 11:48 AM

The Aspire Child Development Centre turns 40 this year, and the community is invited to celebrate its birthday on May 1.

Aspire serves over 1,000 individuals annually through a range of services, all designed to serve children with diverse needs, and their families, across central Alberta.

“Celebrating 40 years is more than a milestone – it’s a reflection of the incredible relationships that have shaped Aspire’s journey,” said Megan Fitzpatrick, event and donor relations coordinator at Aspire. “To the families we’ve had the privilege to support, our passionate team and our deeply invested community – thank you. Your trust, commitment, and encouragement have made this journey possible. We look forward to the future with gratitude and a renewed commitment to serving Central Alberta with excellence.”

To recognize four decades of community service, supporters are invited to a casual drop-in on May 1, marking the day it opened its doors in 1985. The event runs 1-4 p.m. and attendees can enjoy a sweet treat.

Cafe Millenium will also be selling Aspire-themed cookies starting that day until supplies last, and 100 per cent of the proceeds will go to Aspire.

The Aspire Children’s Raffle and 50/50 Draw will also return with enhanced prizes to celebrate the milestone:

  • Grand prize: Choice of one of four vehicles, including a Dodge Hornet GT, Jeep Wrangler Sport, Fiat 500e BEV or a Jeep Compass Sport.
  • Second prize: Sapphire tennis bracelet valued at $6,295.
  • Third prize: $4,000 cash, double last year’s prize.

Additionally, the 50/50 draw jackpot has been increased to $40,000, with the winner slated to take home $20,000.

Tickets go on sale on May 1 as well, with winners drawn live at the Evening of Decadent Dessert, taking place in October.

The Evening of Decadent Dessert is Aspire’s signature fundraising gala and this year, will don ruby red branding in honour of its 40-year anniversary. Scheduled for Oct. 2, the event will highlight the organization’s history and legacy in central Alberta.

“This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever – a true celebration of our commitment to the community. Watch for extravagant cakes, amazing live auction packages and more,” said Fitzpatrick.
