UPDATE: Sylvan Lake RCMP responds to fatal collision on Highway 20

The Sylvan Lake RCMP reported the two-vehicle collision on Highway 20 this morning, between Highway 12 and Township Road 402, resulted in a death.

The collision south of Bentley saw both drivers taken to hospital with serious injuries. However, a 29-year-old passenger from Red Deer was taken to hospital in critical condition and was pronounced deceased.

Police say a preliminary investigation suggested that poor road conditions were a contributing factor.

The scene has been cleared and the highway has reopened in both direction. The Alberta RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
