The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit have charged a 21-year-old man in connection to an alleged homicide in Red Deer last month.

As a result of the investigation, they’ve charged 21-year-old Gurpreet Singh with second-degree murder and and a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Police believe he’s left the county and efforts to find him are ongoing.

Meanwhile, the victim has been identified to be 23-year-old Mandeep Kaur.

This comes after police responded to a call just before 8 p.m.on March 10 for a report of a deceased person in an apartment on 30 Street.

That night police found Kaur, who was deceased, and Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was contacted to take over the investigation.

She was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the death was deemed a homicide. Police also said in the previous release they believed it to be a targeted attack and there is no ongoing risk to the public.
