Former City of Red Deer employee charged with fraud
A former City of Red Deer employee has been charged with fraud.
The Red Deer RCMP says Krutisha Patel, a former employee in the city’s electric light and power department, has been charged with fraud over $5,000, five counts of laundering proceeds of crime, and using a forged document.
The 35 year-old from Calgary allegedly created several fraudulent purchases for goods and services that were never received between 2018 and 2022.
Police say they were made aware of the allegations in November 2022 by the city after staff had found $99,283.04 in internal fraud that dated back four years.
