The Chinook’s Edge School Division (CESD) Board of Trustees has approved increases to school fees for families — due to increasing costs, it says — following its Apr. 8 meeting.
The changes are as follows:
- $50 increase per student for those who require transportation to school and do not receive full provincial funding due to the distance between their home and the school.
- The fee for partially funded students (1 km from school for Kindergarten to Grade 6, 2 km for Grade 7-12 will be $250. An early registration discount is available for partially funded students.
- Students who do not qualify for provincial funding will face a total fee of $550.
- The per credit fee for Career and Technology Studies classes will increase from $1 per credit to $12 per credit.
- The fee for construction, fabrication and mechanics, prorated for five credits, will increase by $40, bringing the total fee to $120.
- The fee for a five credit foods class will be $80.
