Chinook’s Edge launches flexible learning opportunities for families

Apr 9, 2025 | 1:05 PM

Chinook’s Edge School Division is pleased to be offering a new opportunity for families.

Starting in September 2025, officials say families who are not currently registered in Chinook’s Edge will be able to enroll their children in the flexible learning program, supported by Chinook’s Edge teachers.

The program is for students in Grades 1-8 and has two learning pathways families can choose between.

One pathway involves receiving a backpack of resources each month containing learning resources with access to curricular projects. The other pathway offers a more rigorous program, and will be focused on academic achievement.

“Chinook’s Edge recognizes that some families are looking for flexibility in how learning is delivered,” says Karyn Barber, Associate Superintendent of System Services. “Chinook’s Edge looks forward to connecting with these families to provide high quality learning that fits students’ needs and family context.”

Officials say students in the program will have direct access to Chinook’s Edge teachers, so they can receive high quality instruction. Also, students will have the opportunity to participate in field trips with other students in the program, and to connect with community resources such as access to fitness facilities.

“We are excited about partnering with families on this new journey,” says Barber. “We believe that adding this opportunity and continuing to offer high quality education in our schools will ensure we are meeting the educational needs of families in our communities.”

Parents wanting more information about the program can email Chinook’s Edge at flexiblelearning@cesd73.ca, or visit the Chinook’s Edge website: www.cesd73.ca/programs/flexible-learning.
