Apr 1, 2025 | 10:15 AM

A woman charged in a central Alberta homicide has been sentenced to four years in jail.

Amie Lindsay Twins, 33, a resident of Maskwacis, was sentenced in Wetaskiwin Court of King’s Bench on Nov. 5, 2024, after being convicted on one count of manslaughter. She was also given a 10-year firearms prohibition.

However, Twins was also given enhanced credit of 654 days of pre-trial custody, leaving her with 806 days (a little over two years) left to serve from her sentencing date last fall.

Twins was previously scheduled for a jury trial in Wetaskiwin Court of King’s Bench from March 17-28, 2025.

It was on July 30, 2023, when Maskwacis RCMP received a report of a stabbing at a residence on Louis Bull First Nation.

Upon arrival, RCMP and EMS located a deceased male who was identified as 34-year-old Maskwacis resident, Daniel Adrian Johnson.

RCMP arrested an occupant of the home and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was deployed and took over the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP charged Maskwacis resident, Amie Lindsay Twins with second-degree-murder.
