WHL alumni compete for 2025 USports Men’s Hockey Championship

The Canadian Hockey League announced 176 alumni will compete at the 2025 USports Men’s Hockey Championship.

The tournament, that wraps up on Sunday, is currently underway at TD Place in Ottawa. According to a media release, CHL alumni make up approximately 80 per cent of the players competing at the tournament, which is the most of any development league in the world.

Among the alumni form the CHL includes 80 graduates from the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), 49 from the Western Hockey League (WHL), and 47 who hail from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

Some of the the WHL alumni includes Ethan Rowland (Red Deer) Josh Tarzwel (Red Deer), Tristan Zandee (Lethbridge) Teague Patton (Medicine Hat) who are suited up for the Mount Royal University Cougars. In addition, Ty Prefontaine (Lethbridge) competed for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies and Trevor Longo (Medicine Hat) for the Queen’s University Gaels.
