Home sales in Red Deer show promising start to 2025

Red Deer’s home sales are off to a positive start in 2025, showing month-to-month growth as well as higher numbers than the same point last year.

According to the latest Market Update from Central Alberta Realtors Association, the number of units sold in February 2025 rose to 130, up from 96 in January.

This is also higher than the same time last year; in February 2024, 110 units were sold.

Year-to-date, there have been 226 home sales in Red Deer, up from 200 at the same point in time in 2024.

In February, the average sale price in Red Deer was $398,215, marking a slight increase from January’s average of $397,529. In 2024, the average sale price in February was 14.4 per cent lower at $340,114.

On average, it took 33 days to sell a home in Red Deer in February, down from 36 days in January and 37 days in February 2024.

Across all of central Alberta, there were 312 units sold last month, up from 287 in January, but down from 354 units sold in February last year..

Year-to-date, the region saw 599 sales in the first two months of 2025, compared to 627 in 2024.

As for sale prices, $401,511 was the average price for February, down from $412,088 in January but up from $390,034 in February 2024.

Those sales closed, on average, in 50 days, down slightly from 56 days in January and 59 days in February last year.
