Burton Bailey will be the next Conservative Party of Canada candidate for the new re-aligned riding of Red Deer in the next federal election, according to a newsletter sent out this week by the party to members.

Bailey, who has served for several years as executive assistant to Red Deer-North MLA Adriana Lagrange, was selected by his peers during a vote March 8.

He beat out Penhold Mayor Mike Yargeau and Red Deer Public Schools Board Chair Nicole Buchanan.

The Conservative Party of Canada is yet to respond to our request for more comprehensive results of the vote.

Meantime, the People’s Party of Canada has approved Kyla Courte, a local certified financial planner, to be its candidate in Red Deer whenever the election is called.
