Canadian product scan apps receiving a boost in downloads

Mar 11, 2025 | 12:53 PM

As political leaders, businesses, and residents take their stance on the ongoing Canada-U.S tariff war; a movement has started from coast to coast of consumers boycotting American products.

As a result, three free apps designed to scan an item and find where it was produced and if it is Canadian, are now trending in the top 25 of the shopping category on the Apple app store:

Many Canadian politicians and figures encourage Canadians to continue this boycott, with some provinces even removing American products from their shelves.

Currently, America has imposed 25 per cent tariffs on all Canadian exports and 10 per cent on Canadian energy.

A 50 per cent tariff on steel and aluminum products from Canada entering the U.S. will go into effect tomorrow according to President Donald Trump; up from the previously announced 25 per cent mark.
