Extreme Cold Warning issued for Red Deer and area
An Extreme Cold Warning has been issued for the city of Red Deer and surrounding areas.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), a period of very cold wind chills is expected. Meteorologists say extremely cold wind chill values near minus 40 are expected overnight and into Wednesday morning.
Wind chill values, however, are expected to moderate through the daytime hours, but extremely cold wind chill values could return overnight and Thursday morning for parts of Alberta.
Officials remind you that extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.
