Extreme cold warning issued for Red Deer area
An extreme cold warning is in effect for the City of Red Deer and much of Alberta, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
ECCC says a period of very cold wind chills is expected; extremely cold wind chill values between minus 40 and minus 45 are expected to continue this morning.
Wind chills values will likely moderate this afternoon, but extremely cold wind chills may return tonight for some areas.
Extreme cold puts everyone at risk, but risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.
