This week, Red Deer Polytechnic will host the ACAC Curling Championships at the Pidherney Centre. Both RDP Basketball squads will play the Briercrest College Clippers at home. The Queens Hockey team will face-off against the SAIT Trojans. The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens Volleyball teams will challenge the Briercrest College Clippers in Saskatchewan.

Tickets to watch the Kings and Queens compete at home can be purchased online.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings, Queens and Mixed Curling teams will look to earn medals in front of their home fans at the ACAC Curling Championships.

The RDP Kings (6-2) enter the championships as the second seed in the Men’s Division. The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (8-2) tied for first in the Women’s Division. The Red Deer Polytechnic Mixed Curling team (5-3) finished second overall after both regionals.

The top four squads in each division advanced to the ACAC Curling Championships hosted by RDP at the Pidherney Centre from February 7-9, 2025.

Men’s Teams – SAIT Trojans (7-1), RDP Kings 6-2), Lakeland College Rustlers (4-4), NAIT Ooks (3-5)
Women’s Teams – SAIT Trojans (8-2), RDP Queens (8-2), Concordia Thunder (7-3), Lakeland College Rustlers (3-7)
Mixed Curling Teams – SAIT (6-2), RDP (5-3), Lakeland College (4-4), Concordia Thunder (4-4)

There is no cost to watch the competition at the ACAC Curling Championships.

Basketball

Queens vs Clippers | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, February 7 | 6 p.m.

The fourth place Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Basketball team (10-7) will host the third seed Briercrest College Clippers (11-5). The Queens have scored an average of 67.1 points per game. The Clippers average 68.5 points.

RDP Queens vs Clippers | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, February 8 | 1 p.m.

The RDP Queens will tip-off against the Clippers.

RDP Kings vs Clippers | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, February 7 | 8 p.m.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Basketball team (6-11) will entertain the top seed Briercrest College Clippers (15-1) in the Fas Gas – On The Run Gymnasium. The Kings, who average 10.7 steals per game, are sixth in the South Division.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings will play the Clippers.

Hockey

Queens vs Trojans | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, February 7 | 7 p.m.

The third place RDP Queens Hockey team (12W-6L-1 OTL) will host the fourth place SAIT Trojans (5W-10L2 OTL-2 SOL). The Queens have scored two shorthanded goals this season.

Queens at SAIT Trojans | Saturday, February 8 | 6:15 p.m.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens will face-off against the Trojans in Calgary.

Volleyball

RDP Queens at Briercrest College | Friday, February 7 | 5 p.m.

The second seed Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball team (11-4) will challenge the Briercrest College Clippers in Saskatchewan. The Clippers (10-5) sit third in the ACAC Women’s Volleyball South Division. Both teams have already qualified for the postseason.

Queens at Briercrest College | Saturday, February 8 | 12 p.m.

The RDP Queens will wrap up their weekend series against the Clippers in an afternoon match.

RDP Kings at Briercrest College Clippers | Friday, February 7 | 7 p.m.

The first place Kings Volleyball team (14-1) will the play the Briercrest College Clippers (9-6) on the road. The Clippers sit third in the South Division. Kings’ setter Brett Theise has averaged 8.43 assists per set.

Kings vs Trojans | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, February 8 | 2 p.m.

The RDP Kings will compete against the Clippers.
