Red Deer encourages active living in February Fitness Challenge

Jan 29, 2025 | 4:36 PM

The City of Red Deer invites residents to stay active and healthy this winter by joining the February Fitness Challenge, running from Feb. 1-28.

The initiative encourages Red Deerians to build healthy habits through recreation activities offered at local facilities. Whether it’s swimming, skating, fitness classes, or drop-in sports, an active community makes for a strong and healthy community, the city says.

Participants can get involved at several facilities including the Collicutt Centre, G. H. Dawe Community Centre, Recreation Centre, Michener Centre, Servus Arena, Setter’s Place at Great Chief Park and Kinsmen Twin Arenas by grabbing a February Fitness Challenge card and receiving a stamp for every hour of activity completed.

“This challenge is a great way to stay active during the colder months while connecting with our community,” said Monique Pages-Mearns, recreation facilities supervisor “We encourage everyone to take part, try new activities, and have fun!”
