Minister Schulz travelling to Japan to promote Alberta energy and international partnerships

Rebecca Schulz, Minister of Environment and Protected Areas, is travelling to Japan in an effort to promote Alberta’s environmental and energy track record and advance new partnerships with the country.

She will be joining representatives from Energy for a Secure Future, Indigenous leaders and industry officials. During the Jan. 29-Feb. 8 mission, she will also meet with business and government officials to discuss environmental innovations and energy opportunities.

“The world needs the most responsible, reliable and secure energy possible, and that comes from Alberta. Japan’s energy needs are growing, and our province has the resources, innovation and reliability needed to help Japan grow its economy while creating jobs and new investment opportunities here at home,” said Schulz.

She will be joined by one staff member and trip expenses will be posted online.

Itinerary:

  • Jan. 29-30: Travel to Japan.
  • Jan. 31: Meet with energy industry officials and tour the JERA Futtsu Thermal Power Station and LNG Intake Facility.
  • Feb. 1-2: Briefings.
  • Feb. 3: Meet with industry leaders.
  • Feb. 4: Meet with energy industry officials.
  • Feb. 5: Attend Canada-Japan Energy Partnerships forum and meetings with energy industry officials.
  • Feb. 6: Meet with industry officials.
  • Feb. 7-8: Return to Alberta.
