WHEELIN' AND DEALIN'

Rebels make one more deal as WHL trade deadline comes and goes

Jan 9, 2025 | 8:48 PM

It’s been a whirlwind week for the Red Deer Rebels as several players were dealt while new faces are all being welcomed at once.

This all ahead of the WHL trade deadline, which came and went at 6 p.m. on Thursday, and as the team battles some adversity with a prolonged losing skid.

And while the Rebels were busy leading up to the deadline, there was one last deal they squeaked in before the cutoff.

The Rebels announced right at 6 p.m. that they had sent 18-year-old centre Cole Peardon to the Prince George Cougars, in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft.

Peardon was acquired by Red Deer just last month from Prince Albert; he contributed two assists over seven games.

rdnewsNOW will have a recap of the trade deadline with owner ad GM Brent Sutter on Friday, but for now, here’s a summary of all the swaps the Rebels made over the last several days.
