The Red Deer Rebels have traded away 17-year-old goaltender Taylor Tabashniuk to the Regina Pats.

In exchange, the Rebels received a seventh round selection in the 2026 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft.

He was drafted by the Rebels in the sixth round, 127th overall in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft.

Tabashniuk made his WHL debut last season with the Rebels in the playoffs starting in two games against the Saskatoon Blades in an emergency situation.

This season he played three games with the SJHL’s Melville Millionaires before returning to his hometown U18 AAA Regina Pat Canadians where he’s posted a 10-2 recird in 12 games.

Prior to the WHL trade deadline, the Rebels have made a few trades involving key players including Carson Birnie and Matteo Fabrizi.

Teams will have until 6 p.m. on Thursday to complete anymore trades before the deadline.
