Olds Grizzlys d-man Tristan Taylor is the AJHL defensive player of the week.

Taylor (2004) led the Grizzlys to a pair of wins this week over Devon and Bonnyville.

On Jan. 3 at home to the Pontiacs, the Anmore, B.C. native recorded three assists in a 5-4 shootout victory.

The team then held the Xtreme to one goal against the next night, en route to a 2-1 shootout win.

The three apples for Taylor give him nine points on the year, including two goals, in 25 games.

Currently last in the South Division, the Grizzlys (13-18-0-0) are the only team in the AJHL not lose a game that’s gone past regulation, with seven total OT and shootout wins.

This is the second player of the week honour for the Grizzlys this season, after Aidan Fischer was named defensive player of the week for Sept. 23-29.

Next up for Taylor and the Grizz is a home date with the Drayton Valley Thunder, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m (tonight).

They’re in Devon Jan. 10, and then in Whitecourt Jan. 11. They return home Jan. 17 against Drumheller.
