French Immersion open house Jan. 9 at École Mountview

Jan 3, 2025 | 10:04 AM

Families are invited to learn about French Immersion education at an upcoming info session hosted by Red Deer Public Schools (RDPSD).

The open house will run from 6-7 p.m. on Jan. 9 at École Mountview Elementary.

There is an emphasis on families with kids going into kindergarten or grade one.

“Red Deer Public Schools’ French Immersion program provides students with the opportunity to develop language skills, cultural understanding, and academic excellence, setting the stage for lifelong learning,” said Amy Nye, Learning Services Coordinator.

“Learning a second language, such as French, not only opens doors to cultural experiences, but also enhances cognitive development, problem solving skills, and academic performance. Our French Immersion program equips students with valuable skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.”

There will be representatives from all three local RDPSD elementary schools which offer French Immersion, including Mountview, Oriole Park, and Barrie Wilson.

French Immersion is also offered at Central Middle and Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School.

Child-minding will also be available at the open house for those attending with kids.
