Sylvan Lakers welcome Red Deer Regional Hospital’s 2025 ‘New Year’s baby’

Jan 2, 2025 | 4:46 PM

The 2025 ‘New Year’s baby’ at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre came at 9:17 a.m. on Jan. 1.

First-time parents Chloe Ross and Dominick Zander, of Sylvan Lake, welcomed baby Oliver a week early.

Little Oliver Zander-Ross weighed in at seven pounds, three ounces.

Dominick shared that the youngster’s unexpected arrival is the best possible way to start 2025.

“It’s a big learning curve,” the engaged couple agreed.

“I’m sure we’ll get it figured out though, said Chloe. “We’ve got lots of support with us, and lots of family that’s excited.”

Oliver is the first grandbaby for both Dominick’s and Chloe’s parents, they added.

On being the first of the year for Red Deer Regional, they knew it was a possibility.

“But we didn’t think it would happen,” they said. “When we got here, we thought someone else must’ve already had the New Year’s baby.”

Dominick, Chloe and Oliver went home Jan. 2, and the proud parents shared that Oliver is fully healthy.
