Families invited to Kindergarten Academy of Discovery open house

Jan 2, 2025 | 11:41 AM

Families are invited to learn about the opportunities awaiting at the Kindergarten Academy of Discovery at an open house on Wednesday, Jan. 8 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Annie L. Gaetz Elementary School.

The Academy offers families full day English kindergarten programming every school day, with partial costs covered by families.

The program is led by a certified teacher and an educational assistant, and combines hands-on learning with imaginative play and exploration, officials say. Red Deer Public Schools says that by focusing on both academic and social-emotional development, the program helps young learners build a strong foundation for success in school and beyond.

The open house will allow families to learn more about the program, which officials say fosters creativity, curiosity and a love of learning in young students. Attendees will meet the program staff, explore the classroom, and gain insight into the curriculum and approach to early childhood education.

“We are thrilled to open our doors to families and showcase the wonderful learning experiences we offer at the Kindergarten Academy of Discovery,” said Michael McCorquindale, principal at Annie L. Gaetz Elementary. “This is a fantastic opportunity for parents to see firsthand how this program inspires and empowers our youngest students.”

Families are encouraged to bring their children to the open house to experience the environment and engage with staff.
