The Red Deer Rebels have parted ways with longtime defenceman Matteo Fabrizi.

On Tuesday the team announced they traded Fabrizi to the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for 18-year-old defenceman Doogan Pederson, 15-year-old forward Miller Robson, and a third-round pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft, which originally belonged to Swift Current.

Pederson has two goals and eight assists for 10 points in 32 games with the Raiders this season. Overall, the Langley, B.C. product has 16 points in 76 career games in P.A.

He was signed by the Raiders in 2022 after he was listed by the team the year prior. He is the son of Denis Pederson, who suited up for the Raiders from 1991-95 before playing 20 years in professional hockey, including the NHL. During that time, he played 435 games with the New Jersey Devils, Vancouver Canucks, Arizona Coyotes, and Nashville Predators.

Robson, who calls Saskatoon home, played 15 games this season with the U18 AA Saskatoon Riverkings and has 14 points. He also played four games with the U18 AAA Saskatoon Blazers.

Fabrizi was in his fourth season with the Rebels after he was selected in the second round, 31st overall by the organization at the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft.

The St. Albert, Alta. native appeared in 197 regular season games with Red Deer where he scored 11 goals and 26 assists for 36 points.

He also suited up in 23 playoff games where he added a pair of assists. So far this season, Fabrizi had netted two goals and six assists for eight points in 28 games.
