Canada Post asks residents to keep walkways clear as work resumes

Dec 18, 2024 | 10:38 AM

With Red Deer under a 10-15 cm snowfall warning for Dec. 18, Canada Post is asking residents of the area to help minimize risk to their employees as they deliver your mail by keeping sidewalks and stairs clear.

Tips to keep your home safe for postal and delivery workers:

  • Remove snow and ice from your walkways, driveway, and around your mailbox.
  • De-ice your stairs, entrance, and the path to your mailbox using sand or salt.
  • Keep your stairs, handrails, and mailbox free of obstructions and in good repair.
  • Turn on outdoor lighting to keep pathways and stairs visible.

Canada Post also notes that as of Dec. 17, it began accepting regular mail in street letter boxes and all post offices. New “commercial volumes” will be accepted into the network starting Dec. 19.
