Blackfalds RCMP lay charges in armed robbery

Blackfalds RCMP have made an arrest in connection with a Nov. 11, robbery at the 7-11 in Blackfalds.

On Dec. 17, 2024, Blackfalds RCMP General Investigations Section (GIS) and general duty members with the assistance of Sylvan Lake GIS and Innisfail GIS executed a search warrant at a residence in Red Deer.

As a result of the search, police seized items related to the robbery including masks, a shotgun, and a vehicle.

RCMP have arrested and charged Red Deer resident 19-year-old Jackson Mackenzie Cann with;

  • Robbery with a firearm;
  • Disguise with intent;
  • Discharge a firearm with intent;
  • Firearms offences (x6).

Cann was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for Dec. 20, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.

Despite this arrest, Mounties say the investigation continues into identifying the second suspect.
