Outdoor Live Nativity Pageant and Indoor Créche Display return with new homes for 2024

Dec 17, 2024 | 10:53 AM

Red Deer’s 43rd annual Outdoor Live Nativity Pageant and Indoor Créche Display both have new homes for this year’s presentations, running from Dec. 19-21.

The outdoor pageant will take place at Sunnybrook Farm Museum (2879 Botterill Crescent) for the first time.

“We’re excited to partner with the Outdoor Live Nativity Pageant and have this event on our 10-acre park site,” said Ian Warwick, executive director of Sunnybrook Farm Museum. “We love having families and children on our site and this event fits in nicely with other events we host like the annual Family Day Celebration and the Easter Egg Hunt.”

An indoor créche display featuring more than 300 nativity scenes from around the world will also be set up at the Bower Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (3002 47 Avenue) as well.

Showtimes for the Outdoor Live Nativity Pageant are as follows:

  • December 19 and 20: 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 8 p.m.
  • December 21: 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 5 p.m.

Parking at the Sunnnybrook Farm Museum is limited, so attendees are welcome to park at the Bower Chapel and make the short walk to the farm. Crossing guards will be in place to assist in safe road crossings.

“We are excited to have a new location for our annual outdoor live nativity performance,” said Jen Stephan, co-manager of this year’s event. “The Outdoor Live Nativity has been a wonderful tradition that brings families together to remember the true meaning of Christmas and we are pleased to share this with Red Deer again.”

Doors are open for the Indoor Créche Display at the following times:

  • December 19 and 20: 6-9 p.m.
  • December 21: 3-6 p.m.

Both events are free to attend and welcome to people of all faiths, church officials say.
