Town of Penhold to begin construction of new public services building in 2025

The Town of Penhold says construction for the new public services and fire hall building will start in the spring of 2025.

In the regular council meeting on Monday, the council unanimously approved to finalize the building contract with Scott Builders Inc. to construct the new building.

The local construction company was awarded the project in October of this year.

The building is valued at $8.5 million and be the new home for protective services and operations departments.

The current public works building and the fire hall have been in use since 1976.

Councillor Shawn Hamm said during the meeting he appreciates the work that’s been done by everyone involved.

“You guys have put a lot of hard work into it. There were some concerns for the cost of this building and just to know it’s cost effective and that we looked at all the ways we can save money… This is going to be a great building for us for years to come,” he said.

“It’s not something we can look back on in a few years and say, ‘I wish we would of this or that.’ By the time the building’s out of date I’ll have a lot more grey hair on my head. It’s going to be really good for the town for a long time.”
