The Red Deer Rebels recent struggles continued on Friday night.

At the VisitLethbridge.com Arena in Lethbridge, the Hurricanes scored three unanswered goals in the third period to beat the Rebels 4-1.

Hurricanes Brayden Edwards and Rebels Trae Wilke scored in the opening frame and after a scoreless second period, Trae Johnson and Hayden Pakkala scored for the Hurricanes. Logan Wormald notched an empty net goal to secure the 4-1 victory.

The Rebels struggled to find the back of the net after they were held scoreless on four powerplays. Meanwhile, Lethbridge potted one powerplay goal on three opportunities.

Rebels goaltender Chase Wutzke was named the third star of the game after he made 25 saves on 28 shots. Netminder Jackson Unger was in net for the Hurricanes and made 15 saves.

The Rebels will return to the ice tonight at the Centrium against the Kamloops Blazers for the annual Toque and Teddy Bear Toss game at 7 p.m.

Those in attendance are asked to toss items, such as toques, mittens, scarves, socks and teddy bears on the ice after the Rebels first goal, which will be donated to the Red Deer Christmas Bureau.
