Catalyst Incubator Program finishes latest cohort with final pitches

Dec 14, 2024 | 12:03 PM

Earlier this week, a group of local entrepreneurs gave their final pitches to wrap up the Catalyst Incubator Program in front of central Alberta business owners.

On Dec. 9, the seven participants gave five minute presentations where they provided background about their business idea, explained their product, and why investors should support it.

The process was a culmination of the Catalyst Incubator Program presented by the Central Alberta Regional Innovation Network (CARIN) and sponsored by Community Futures Central Alberta.

“Catalyst Incubator really moved me forward in terms of determining who my customers are and how to reach them,” said Catalyst participant Gergory Bundschoks. “The wayfinding that Catalyst provides has saved me huge amounts of time and energy rather than figuring everything out on my own.”

The program is now in its fourth year and focuses on supporting start-ups in manufacturing, agriculture, technology, energy innovation, and related sectors.

It is 100 per cent funded by CARIN through Alberta Innovates and is free to attend for all selected entrepreneurs. During the 8-week cohort, each learner/entrepreneur receives over 50 hours of training from highly qualified mentors.

Since the program was started, five cohorts have been through the program and mentors are chosen based on the needs of the learners. This allows those who are facing issues in the program to receive expert knowledge,

“The Catalyst Incubator is really for early-stage entrepreneurs who want to discover what problem they are solving, and who their potential customers are,” said Cathy Forner of C4ner Consulting – project manager for Catalyst Incubator.

Catalyst Incubator is currently looking for its next crop of entrepreneurs interested in the customer discovery journey. Deadline to apply is January 13, 2024.
