The City of Red Deer’s annual Toys for Tickets campaign has resulted in over $4,800 in toy donations being collected for the Red Deer Christmas Bureau.

The generosity and holiday spirit of Red Deerians was on full display with many people donating more than one toy.

“The success of this year’s Toys for Tickets campaign highlights the true spirit of the season,” said Stephanie Gramlich, Parking Coordinator, in a media release. “We are truly grateful to everyone who participated by turning a parking ticket into joy for a child in our community. Their generosity ensures more children will experience the magic of Christmas morning.”

The program has been in place since 2007 and since then, the City has donated 10,250 toys through the Toys for Tickets campaign which has made a difference for many families in the community.

This year’s donation will help the Red Deer Christmas Bureau in their efforts to supply gifts to children in need.

The Toys for Tickets program allowed motorists to pay parking ticket fines with toy donations throughout November.

All of the toys donated were delivered to the Red Deer Christmas Bureau this week for families in need. All of the toys donated were brand new, still in the original packaging, and accompanied by a receipt showing the value of the toy.

“The support from our community is truly inspiring,” Gramlich added. “By participating in this program, residents not only helped spread holiday cheer but also supported the important work of the Red Deer Christmas Bureau. Together, we’re making the holidays brighter for everyone.”
