Sylvan Lake RCMP to wear body cameras beginning in early 2025
Alberta RCMP have announced that officers in Sylvan Lake among other communities in the province will soon be equipped with body-worn cameras.
Members in Sylvan Lake will receive their body-worn cameras by January 2025, which will provide the RCMP an opportunity for further transparency and accountability.
Police say the video evidence collected through the cameras will provide interactions between officers and the public to help increase trust in communities across the province.
“This initiative advances our organization’s commitment to ongoing modernization. We know the policing needs of Albertans are changing, and this demonstrates our adaptability and commitment to meeting those needs and upholding public safety,” as stated in the media release.
