Red Deer RCMP seek public assistance in cable theft incident

Red Deer RCMP are seeking public assistance regarding a power outage in the Oriole Park neighbourhood that was caused by damaged cables earlier this year.

On Aug. 12, at about 9:40 p.m., Red Deer RCMP were notified of a power outage in the Oriole Park neighbourhood, where residents reported hearing a loud noise outside just before the power went down.

Police and electrical workers found that an electrical pit in a nearby green space had been opened and several large cables had been cut, causing the outage.

The RCMP asks anyone from the public who may have witnessed suspicious activity that night or otherwise has information regarding the incident to contact them at 403-406-2200.
