Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre calling on donations amidst Canada Post strike

Dec 4, 2024 | 11:19 AM

The Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre is asking the public to donate in different ways amidst the Canada Post mail disruption.

Instead of mailing donations, the not-for-profit organization says those interested in helping can consider alternative methods such as e-transfer to accounting@pregnancycare.ca, vising their website online at pregnancycare.ca/donate, or by making a donation over the phone at 403-343-1611.

The public can also visit the Care Centre’s 2024 Giving Guide where they can donate to specific programs within the organization.

The organization said public support is still greatly needed as they continue to provide education and compassionate support before, during, and after pregnancy.

All of their programs are not only free but confidential and are offered in a safe environment regardless of age, race, gender, or other circumstances.

They accept clients who are impacted by unexpected pregnancy, those with little knowledge on pregnancy and birth, and those who haven’t developed effective parenting skills.

However, clients may also reach out if they’re pregnant and living in an unhealthy or unsafe environment, grieving from the loss of a pregnancy, struggling after an abortion experience, suffering from the effects of an unhealthy relationship or, looking for a male role model and men’s programming.

The Red Deer location also has a maternity home called The Aerie for mothers and babies as well as pregnant mothers.

The home is staffed 24/7 and can hold up to 11 mothers and their infants. Those who meet the program outcomes can stay until their baby is two years old while they work towards employment or education while strengthening their parent skills.
